Moth award-winning storytellers, Sue Schmidt and Kevin Gallagher, will headline the event along with other storytellers each telling a story about home and living with others. For those not familiar with the new wave of storytelling like the Moth Radio Hour on public radio, storytelling events focus on short stories about real people and real events, usually around a theme. Sometimes the stories are funny, other times happy or poignant. Storytelling events have a history of being powerful, moving, and transformational for tellers & listeners alike. This will be a family friendly event. We will have five or six storytellers each telling a short 5-7 minute story.
Live music by The Brevity Thing. The band, featuring Dave Ball (guitar, harp), Jom Hammack (mandolin), and Steve Goldman (upright bass) blend together a myriad of musical styles, featuring strong vocal harmonizing, musical spontaneity, choice “cover” songs, and a few wild originals.
Food & Drink:
Passed and stationed appetizers.
Amazing assorted desserts from Waterfront Catering, Mirabelle’s & Miss Weinerz.
Tickets $35/each. Click HERE for tickets.
Again this year Jim Geier has generously donated one of his Vermont Folk Rockers made in his Starksboro studio for us to raffle off to raise funds for our Homesharing Program. The all-wood seat and back feel like a quilted cushion because of the lively support of interlocking blocks that are suspended through the frame with nylon rope. The chair being raffled is cherry-finished and comes with an adjustable cushioned headrest is valued at over $1,500.
Raffle tickets are $20 each or 6/$100. The winning ticket will be drawn at our 35th Anniversary Celebration. No need to be present to win. Free delivery of the rocking chair is available in our four county service area.
Special Thanks to our sponsors for helping us to raise $35,000 for our HomeShare program.

In May 2013 HomeShare Vermont published a do-it-yourself guidebook, A Vermonter’s Guide to Homesharing, to help people find a homesharer to live with them if they are outside the service area of the state’s two homesharing programs. The new booklet was funded in part by a grant from AARP-Vermont. The booklet can walk people through the entire process from placing an ad to interviewing techniques to developing a match agreement. The guidebook brings HomeShare Vermont’s thirty years of expertise to offer suggestions on how to prevent problems in a homesharing arrangement.
